About the event

Kabuke presents Sake Stories, a series of Sake tasting evenings featuring award-winning breweries across Japan.

KABUKE presents Sake Stories – SANRAN 燦爛 & BO: 望

Kabuke is pleased to present an intimate evening seating with Tonoike Sake Brewery, winner of multiple Japan and International Sake awards and competitions in our latest Sake Tasting instalment of Sake Stories.

3rd Generation Owner & CEO, Tonoike Shigeki san, of multiple awards-winning TONOIKE Sake Brewery of Tochigi Prefecture, will feature 8 highlights from their range of SANRAN 燦爛 & BO: 望  Sake, and will be sharing their hand-crafted Sake and vast knowledge with you. The brewery was established in 1937 in Mashiko Town of Tochigi Prefecture and their main label SANRAN 燦爛 has won the Gold Prize at the Japan National Sake Awards for 9 consecutive years since 2014!

BO: 望 is an undertaking by TONOIKE Sake Brewery with an eye on the future of Sake, its name indicating the act of standing on tiptoes looking far out into the distance. It is a next-gen craft sake label that challenges traditional flavours and reexamines what it means to enjoy sake.

Craftmanship

Makoto Ono, Tonoike Sake Brewery’s master brewer, has over 20 years of experience and is one of the few sake brewers to hold both the Nanmbu Toji & the Shimotsuke Toji title. Since Makoto became master brewer in 2015, Sanran has consistently won multiple Gold awards and ranking in the Top 3 out of 328 brands in the National Nambu Toji Sake Competition.
